Am I ever excited! Here we are, finally in the year 2012, supposedly the year of our collective end. But we’re still here and we’re just getting started. *Prosper Street Productions* is in it for the long haul so if this year is “it” well then we might as well go out with a bang. Why not be at your best & brightest when that moment comes? If it ever does that is. The truth of the matter is this: no one knows what’s going to happen this year, we’re all just along for the ride. Apocalypse or no Apocalypse, we’ve got a busy year ahead of us! The *Prosper Street Crew* are currently in the planning stages of the 2 art exhibits we have annually in Spring & Fall. This year, we are going to attempt to eclipse ourselves in the size & scope of our previous projects.
Before we place the proverbial rose on 2011′s casket, I wanted to have one last look at what we did throughout the year. It’s hard to believe that it’s already over but it is. Time took off from us so very quickly that we were barely able to hang on. That’s what happens when you’re busy! It didn’t seem like we accomplished a lot at first but upon closer inspection we realized that we had achieved quite a bit in our own right. We may not have done as much as we wanted but we did as much as possible as best we could like we do each & every year. And do you wanna know something? We did pretty good.
RPM’s trilogy was released as an E-Book on SMASHWORDS thanks to our talented & determined editor & cover designer Sherri-Lynn who also worked tirelessly to get the book on the premium shelves of APPLE, SONY, DIESEL, KINDLE and most recently BARNES & NOBLE. I am totally stunned by this accomplishment when I think back to when I started out as a writer way waaaay back in 1996. I never would have guessed that I’d have an “E-Book” for sale worldwide….and speaking of E-Books, we will be announcing our next release soon. oh yeah and I almost forgot to mention that I finished another 2 books this year and my 1st 2 books RPM’s trilogy & RPM’s miscellaneous are both COMPLETELY SOLD OUT!!! Thank you to everyone who supported us with the release of these books!
SEA OF THE UNDERGROUND is back! Dale & I decided to do our annual reunion only this time we’re sticking around. After a long absence of new material, we wrote & recorded 5 songs in 2 months time and there are more currently in the works. We played some great shows too! 2012 will be even better with the addition of a full band backing us up….we are really looking forward to unveiling this brand spanking new edition of SEA OF THE UNDERGROUND.
ANONYMOUS LEE & THE BAD MAN began as ANONYMOUS LEE & THE UNKNOWN MUSIC MAN. That all changed at the now much loved Break Up Show @ Second Cup when I was dubbed The Bad Man by the Anonymous One. We played a bunch of shows over the course of the year and wrote a bunch of songs. We’re still going strong…A full band incarnation is currently being assembled & we are in the process of recording an L.P. so be sure to keep an ear out for Anonymous Lee & The Bad Man…
*PROSPER STREET PRODUCTIONS* was on PEG CITY GROOVE on CKUW 95.9FM Friday May 6th, for my birthday! Yup, I had my birthday on the radio…until I had to go back to work. They played a few songs by COCKTAIL HOSTAGES (see article from UPTOWN MAGAZINE right here on the *Prosper Street Page* in our archives). Kent Davies interviewed us for The HUMAN NATURE Art Exhibit we were putting on the following night @ ESTUDIO LUNA GALLERIA in the Exchange District. After the interview, Anonymous Lee & The Bad Man played 2 songs live on air. SEA OF THE UNDERGROUND followed with the 9 minute Organic Interlude/Newborn Odometer on 12 string. (look on the right hand side of the screen for that broadcast) Both bands played the HUMAN NATURE Art Exhibit. Lindsay Pawlyk was also on the bill along with spoken word sensation Mike O’Neil. Mr O’Neil is slated to record his unique brand of Spoken Word with *Prosper Street Productions* this year!!!
J.P. Roy managed to land us an exclusive contract with an executive lunch cafeteria downtown to exhibit our art on their walls! The pieces are on 2 month rotation which means that every 2 months we are showcasing a fresh collection of artists for an entirely new audience. J.P., his dad Jean-Louis & I set up the hanging of the very 1st collection over the summer and we had a great time. It was kinda surreal to see our stuff in that context.
J.P also contributed a few amazing pieces of his art for some wedding socials for which *Prosper Street Productions* donated a gift basket. He supervised both the HUMAN NATURE & RESTRICTED Art Exhibits and participated in them as well. These were our best art shows to date! We’re still reliving fond memories of those shows and cannot wait to outdo ourselves this year!
THE *PROSPER STREET CAR* was born in the Fall of 2011. It’s our 1st company vehicle. J.P.’s silver Pontiac now has an updated edition of our WISDOM TREE on the hood and our logo is on both bumpers along with our website address on the back windshield. We used to joke about one day having a company car and now we finally have one! We even have a GST number! And Sherri built us this stellar website with her bare hands…lol… All of this still doesn’t seem to real to us. Every time we set up a new account of some kind or another, we always flash back to the days when we would talk about what we were gonna do and how we were gonna do it and now here we are!
The *PROSPER STREET CREW* has grown!!! There are now 4 full timers working round the clock. Besides J.P, Sherri Lynn & myself, we now have Mr Three Fifteen Mike Brown in the fold. He’s our self proclaimed “Web Monkey”. Mike & Sherri have been doing a fine job of keeping us current & functional. Its about time that they got their due so here’s to you guys from the brass! You guys are the unsung heroes of this company. Its great to have people who are as passionate & dedicated as we are to work with on this exciting & sometimes chaotic pursuit. And lets not forget about all the other amazing artists who contribute to our events using whatever artistic medium they choose….they’re the reason why we’re here. Together we’re telling a story, our story, the tale of some local artists combining their super powers to create groundbreaking collections featured in signature events which range in location & theme. We keep growing…guess we’re getting enough water & sunlight….
So is 2012 really the end? Not by a long shot! Like I said earlier, we’re just getting started…
*RPM
